Privacy Policy

How Trailspot collects, uses, and protects information when you use this site.

Draft — pending legal review · Last updated 15 August 2026

1. Who we are

Trailspot ("we", "us") operates trailspot.uk, an independent editorial and directory site covering tours and activities in the UK and Ireland. This policy explains what information we collect from visitors, why, and what choices you have. Questions about this policy can be sent to hello@trailspot.uk.

2. Information we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. Today, the only information collected through this site is:

  • Essential cookies — needed to run the site (e.g. remembering your search preferences). These do not identify you personally.
  • Affiliate tracking cookie — set by our partner Viator when you click a "Check availability" link, so a resulting booking can be attributed to this site.

We do not currently run analytics and do not sell personal data. If that changes, this page and our Cookie Policy will be updated first, and a consent mechanism added where required.

3. How we use it

Affiliate tracking lets Viator attribute a booking to this site so we can earn a commission — it does not affect the price you pay. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details. We do not use any data collected here for advertising or profiling.

5. Third parties we share data with

We share the minimum information necessary with:

  • Viator — our booking partner. When you click through to book, Viator processes your booking and any personal data you provide directly to them, under Viator's own privacy policy.
  • Hosting provider — server logs (e.g. IP address, request timestamps) are processed by our hosting infrastructure to keep the site running securely, and are not used for any other purpose.

We do not sell personal data to anyone.

6. Data retention

The affiliate tracking cookie is retained for up to 30 days, matching Viator's attribution window. Essential cookies persist only for your browsing session or until you clear your browser storage. We do not maintain a separate database of visitor personal data.

7. Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, data protection law gives you the right to:

  • request access to personal data we hold about you,
  • request correction of inaccurate data,
  • request deletion of your data,
  • object to or restrict how your data is processed, and
  • lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@trailspot.uk. We aim to respond within one month.

8. International transfers

Where information is processed by third parties such as Viator or our hosting provider outside your country of residence, that processing is governed by the respective provider's own safeguards and privacy terms, linked above.

9. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the site or the law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.

11. Contact us
